Hi Paul

As the last number in my birthdate was nine my friends and I doctored my draft card to look like a seven and off to the Navy recruiting station in July of 1945. The Navy chief took one look at me and smiled when I gave him the draft card and told me to come back when I started shaving. I have to admit I did have a baby face but I did try. In Sept 1950 I had no problem, signed up and left the same day for Great Lakes Training Station. That year was my first year for serious shaving
