<HTML>Have seen similar codes in O.R.B\'s. for 240 , 209. squadrons.
Unfortunately I have had te same frustrating experience and have no idea why the code was recorded in squadron ecords , can only assume that this was what was given to the record keepers and they blindly recorded what was given.

I have some copies of 240 squaaadron crew logbooks which show flights on \"Londons\" .
When you reflect back and look at the move to Catalinas and Sunderlands , B-17\'s aand Liberators it sems crazy that Coastal went to war with these old and out dated aircraft.
More so when you think of the Lerwick a death trap if ever there was one.

Sadly I heard today that Oscar Barnett of 422 and 259 Squadron passed away in February of this year.
Oscar sank U197 on 20/08/43. (Kpt.lt. Bartels).</HTML>
