<HTML>Hi Rainer,
Interesting point of view and as a logical guy, it makes sense to me that the WG was a legitimate target. I have one question/comment that may have caused it to be a legitimate target: Maybe in the shortage of time, the German Wehrmacht had no time to even deck the ship out to be a hospital ship. Is that why the ship looked like a legitimate target because there was no time to prepare it as such? The counter argument would be that that was a huge gamble to make with 10,000 lives. However, it was an emergency evacuation.
I don\'t know, I won\'t blame the skipper of the Soviet sub, but it is still not a heroic deed when looked at after the incident occurred.
By the way Rainer, thanks for sharing that story. That must have been quite some time.
Best wishes,
Fin</HTML>
