<HTML>I just discovered a little problem in my Excel chart which leads to some revised figures for the 1941/42 and the 1943 projection scenarios. The revised projection for 1941 is extra losses of around 8 million instead of 10 million tons, so the fleet is only reduced to 63% of the 1939 size. There would still be 3 million tons left at the end of 1942 which is 8% of the original fleet. The 1943 figures would be an additional loss of around 6 - 7 million tons which would mean the merchant fleet grows by around 4 million tons which would increase it to around 93% of its original size. So in 1943, the Americans would be building the ships a bit faster than the Germans could sink them. The number of operational U-boats at the end of the 1943 scenario is around 490 and not 650. Yes, the error was in the formula for subtracting the monthly U-boat losses.
