<HTML>Hi All,
Yesterday I watched the 457th re-run of U-boat war part 1 on the Discovery Channel Europe. Though it remains very interesting, it is made from a very \"Brittish\" point of view (my opinion).
However I have a very burning question. In these series and everywhere else where somebody talkes about the codebreakers at Bletchley Park, it is stated that the BP was able to breake the German Enigma code. I got the feeling that they were just lucky (maybe I am wrong and I certainly do not mean to offend someone).
By lucky I mean that they were able to get their hands on the codebooks used by the German meteorological ships (the same codebooks as the u-boats) and the not sinking of the U-110 so they were able to get the documents and a working Enigma-machine.
With the German codebooks and Enigma from a U-boat, can one really talk about code-breaking at Bletchley Park or is allmost everybody able to break the codes with these ingredients.
Another favor the Germans did the guys at BP was not changing the code for the enigma\'s.
Don\'t we give the BP to much credit, or did I miss something somewhere down the line?? (This is certainly possible)
