Just to put it on record - and for others who may cruise by that do not go to the U-234 record George Duffy referenced -

The U-234 was carrying ordinary (un-enriched) uranium oxide to help with Japan's nuclear research program. It was not enriched, it was not plutonium, and was not (directly) usable in a nuclear bomb - it would have needed to be enriched using billions of dollars worth of equipment.
