Hi Stefen,
Sorry, I can’t answer your question about your father Dr. Joachim F. Wolf. His name doesn’t appear in any of my sources on doctors in the U-boat Service but they are quite limited.
However, there is a book on Doctors in the U-boat Service you might still find interesting (though your dad’s name isn’t in it):
Nöldeke, Hartmut and Hartmann, Volker. Der Sanitätsdienst in der deutschen U-Boot-Waffe. Hamburg: Mittler, 1996. ISBN: 3-8132-0501-0. Copyright: Verlag E.S. Mittler & Sohn GmbH, Hamburg, 1996.
It is in German & as I don’t read German I haven’t read the whole thing. There is a particular doctor I am interested in that is mentioned in it & that is why I bought it.
I also came across this one as well but I didn’t buy it:
Nöldeke, Hartmut and Hartmann, Volker. Der Sanitätsdienst in der deutschen Flotte im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Hamburg: Mittler, 2003. ISBN: 3-8132-0803-6. Copyright: Verlag E.S. Mittler & Sohn GmbH, Hamburg, 2003.
You might want to contact Marine-Offizier-Vereinigung (MOV) as they had this listing in 2003:
Wolf Joachim; Dr.med. StArzt dR (0 44) 29.04.1927 MitglNr: 670;
Marlies geb. Schumacher 30.03.
They also had address & phone number but I don’t put that type of information in a post on the Internet. Someone at MOV might be able to point you to someplace that can help.
Additionally, you can get his WWII service record by contacting: Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt).
Google both sources for their current contact information.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ken Dunn
