Hello, i have visited the U boat at Liverpool, i was very impressed with the actual machine, i would agree we should display our past. If the U boat at Malin Head is to be raised let it be raised for historical reasons and not because there was money to be made, if it comes up let it be for the right reasons, let the generation of today see what our forefathers ( be it German or whatever ) were doing in the mid 1940s. I gather the U boat at Liverpool is no longer on display and is being shortlisted for scrapping, why not tow it into the North sea and scuttle it just like its sister ships at the end of WW2, it would make someone some money just to televise the old boat slip back below the surface once again. If it comes up and is put on display ( Lisahally ) i for one would be over the moon, but, if it is not for historical reasons, then let it rest. May i remind you that the U boat at Liverpool was raised because there was the promise of finanicial gain, this was not the case, it would give me immense pleasure to walk on or in the body of the raised U boat and i hope that at some stage in the future Northern Ireland can say they have a German U boat on display at, hopefully Lisahally.
