Thanks for the replies guys, well it turns out I got confused: i was reading about U 251 and how it went to Kirkenes and for some reason I thought that Kirkenes was a town in iceland?!?

Maybe they have a football team with a similar name? :P

But yes, you are right: Kirkenes was indeed a U boat base right up the north of Norway. I dont know why I thought Kirkenes was in Iceland: my apologies!
