<HTML>Hi Tony,On. April 2nd 1943 I was a radio Officer on the SS Katha which at 2233 gmt received two torpedoes courtesy of u124. She carried four lifeboats two of which were wrecked by the explosion and one which slipped from the falls and ended up hanging vertically. Some of us got onto life rafts and paddled away from the ship which sank within 20 minutes of being hit and with a broken back folded like a giant pair of scissors. The din from all the escaping steam pipes and breaking metal can only be imagined. Eight of the 31 of us failed survive. As I was 18 at the time it was exciting to me for as you know at your age you feel immortal. I have not seen \'Titanic\' as I don\'t watch fiction. Best wishes, Roy Prince
