Attack to the cargo ship "Bonita"

In early morning of December, 27, 1940, the cargo ship “Bonita†with panamain flag and a cargo of coal from England to Argentina (Buenos Aires) look for shelter at Ponta Delgada harbour, São Miguel Island, The Azores, because a engine trouble.
A submarine fired two torpedos; one exploded against the cliffs with a great crash and making very important damage on the houses and the other run aground and was disarmed by the portuguese Navy.
The “Bonita†come in the harbour and after some days sail to Argentina.
The torpedo which run aground at the cliffs has an Italian inscription but until now there are some doubts if the submarine was Italian or german.
After the war, summer of 1945, a group of five italian submarines on route from Bermuda to Europe, with the escort of the American tug â€Chainâ€, call at Ponta Delgada for refuelling and one of the crew said that the torpedo was fired by one of the sub, but didn’t said the name.
Who can help me to know something more? Thank you in advance.
