By a series of elimination, I believe these were the RA gunners lost from the Empire Crossbill. One thing the reference books written including Lloyds War losses don't show is that the SS Stonepool also lost from this convoy with all hands was actually carrying several RN & RA gunners, but because I have a copy of her last crew list, I can eliminate those names.

RA Gunners Empire Crossbill

BROSTER, Gunner, JAMES, 1560454, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 28. Son of Albert Broster, and of Sarah Jane Broster, of Wallasey, Cheshire.

GARLICK, Gunner, JOHN, 1567456, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 21.

JACK, Gunner, ROBERT, 1567403, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 22. Son of Simon and Annie Jack, of Avoch, Ross and Cromarty.

PEET, Gunner, PETER, 1560561, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 21.

PHILLIPS, Lance Bombardier, WILLIAM WARD, 1535781, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 33. Son of William and Josephine Hamilton Phillips, of Holywood, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

SCHOLES, Gunner, FREDERICK, 1560530, 7/4 Maritime Regt., Royal Artillery. 11 September 1941. Age 21.

Royal Navy Gunners

FRANCIS, Able Seaman, LESLIE LOUVAIN, P/JX 184294. H.M.S. President III. Royal Navy. (lost in S.S. Empire Crossbill). 11th September 1941. Age 27. Son of Jesse and Lily Francis, of Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

ROSS, Able Seaman, WILLIAM SIDNEY, P/JX 217331. H.M.S. President III. Royal Navy. (lost in S.S. Empire Crossbill). 11th September 1941. Age 31. Son of George Marshall Ross and Annie Ross, of Waddington, Lincolnshire.

WILLIAMS, Able Seaman, KENNETH ERIC, C/JX 253629. H.M.S. President III. Royal Navy. lost in S.S. Empire Crossbill. 11th September 1941. Age 26. Son of Walter and Jane Ann Williams; husband of Frances Williams, of Buckley, Flintshire.

The only way to be 100% sure would be to apply for her 1941 Log Book & Crew Agreements held at Kew under the ships Official Number 168177 in BT 381/1720. See link to request file.
