Ludovic, according to Hogel's book,page 81,Dietrich Rother states,The boats emblem was designed and drawn by Torpedogefreiter Kaufhold.The big bag symbolizes Timm's nickname Tute [sack]. The torpedo represents Tute shooting off torpedo.As for the chimney sweep,when the crew was taken to a Vulkan Shipyard in Bremen-Vegesack on 9/20/41,to put the boat into service, three sweeps met them and waved to them, they were considered a good luck symbol.The emblem of the 11th flotilla was carried on the boats towers with the Red Devil, because the commander had come from Topp's boat U-552
