Hello Julie

I realise this is way late and you will have visited these pens by now but I was joining a ship way back in the 80's in La Pallice and sayed at a small Pension just accross from these Pens. The whole harbour complex at La Pallice was built by the Germans and is still in use today as a commercial port facility. When I visited the Pens the French Army still operated a radio facility from the complex so access was prohibited to most of the structure. Many of the older residents of La Pallice including the Lady who owned the Pension I stayed in had vivid memories of the many raids carried out to destroy the Pens without success.

Hope you and your Father had a Good Holiday!

Howard
