i am told that this was to test the effect of turbines as a propusion system
for the u boats, with one or two turbines on one shaft, like the type xviiia boats u 792 and u 793 that were tested from their launch in 43 untill the end of the war, none of these test boats saw active sevice, although they had crews of experienced men, they were purely experimental.
