The context in which "rw" and "lage l" and lage r" are used pertains to either bearing, relative bearing, or course. Here are some examples from Joaquim Berger's log (U-87): (note--I can't insert degree symbol)

Geleitzug in Sicht rw 90 Kurs 300 Fahrt 8 Sm...

Tiefe 4 m, Lage r 80, Fahrt 8 Sm...

Tiefe 4 m, Lage l 80, Fahrt 8 Sm...

I have no question about the translation of the rest of each phrase, only the "rw" and "lage" references.

Thanks for your consideration, Ken. JR
