<HTML>G\'day again,
Fair comment in regards to the resource facts, but methinks that the Allies access to raw materials was infinite compared to what the Germans ever had. Likewise the one thing that really killed the Germans - fuel.
Your point about the guns is significant and I agree with you about the ramifications had not the Allied bombing campaign occurred. The truth of the matter is that Germany never prepared for a long war - and that is where the crux of the matter lies.As a result her economy was never geared towards that. It\'s interesting that the 2 great democracies had far more control over their economies and the resultant manufacturing than the totalitarian powers had. I think you could say that the US had geared her economy on a war footing as early as Oct. 1940 whilst the UK expected as early as the Munich Crisis that if there was going to be a war it would be a long one. I dont think Germany (meaning her leaders) ever expected that to be the case. Case in point being the Kriegsmarine.Raeder was working on war in 1942 and Donitz\'s U Boatwaffe was caught out to a degree when it came in 1939. In 1940 the Heer actually started demobilizing men at one stage after the French campaign - not the actions of a force expecting a long war.
Anyhow thats my 2 cents worth. I look forward to hearing more.
Cheers,
