Hi Fernando, forgive the intrussion, but I have unable to resolve a crew problem with the U 109. I have, as listed as 53 men lost with her, Arnold, Bender, Benzmann, Berkemeier, Boeker,Boss, Braatz, Bruns, Christossek,Detzner, Eichler, Engmann,Feil, Flegel, Geisser, Goldbeck, Habicht, Hagen, Heil, Hentschel, Heyer,Holzapfel, Jaekel, Kindemann, Klein, Kolzapfel, Korn, Lechner, Lenz, Leyes, Liekefett, Loose, Luettge, Lusch, Maeck, Morsel, Muck, Nickolia, Reichert, Reiter, Rieter, Salewski, Sallach, Salzer, Schaufel,Schramm,Spenner, Staffeldt, Strassberger,Vetter, Wiegele, Wittfeld and Zank. Since she is listed as 52 men lost, do you know who is the wrong man, and also In Hirschfeld, book,'The Story of a U-boat NCO 1940-1946', he mentions a Maschinenmaat Kaufmann, who apparently saved the boat from diving too deep, while on her first patrol, (Fischer),but a name with this rank does not seem to have been on U 109. Any help in resolving this frustrating problem, will br much appreciated. Regards john
