Hi John
U-boats laid mines off the places you mentioned on three occasions:
off Charleston: 12 mines by U-455 on 18/19 Sep, 1942
off Charleston: 12 mines by U-107 on 27 Aug, 1943
off St. Johns: 66 mines by U-220 on 9 Oct, 1943
