The report about this attack by the U-boat Assessment Committee can be found in ADM 199/1781:
"It is evident from the narrative that this attack must have inflicted damage on the U-boat which, it is observed, was returning to base. The Committee considers that the surfacing of the U-boat, as reported, was caused by the effect of the explosion on a bad trim. The big air bubble reported probably resulted from a quick dive to correct this. The result of the attack is assessed as "Probably damaged B". It is considered that the U-boat was German."

Two photos and a diagram of the attack can be found in ADM 199/2441 and they confirm the presence of a U-boat, but unfortunately it is only partially visible on one of the photos.

47.43N, 10.15W lies in the German naval grid BF4168 and I agree that U-372 is the most likely candidate, but I can't confirm this at the moment.
