Hi Klaus-Peter

Well, the Blenheim reported an attack with two bombs at 0755 in 47.43N 10.15W (BF4168) and U-372 reported being attacked at 0855 in BF4431 (47.21N 10°25W).

Time and position correspond, the Blenheim is a twin-engined bomber, the description of the initial attack out of the clouds is also similar and they both reported two explosions. They just do not agree how close the encounter was, maybe because the 250lb A/S bombs used in this attack proved to be ineffective when dropped only a short distance from the target?

There were no other U-boats in the vicinity and it is the only air attack listed by the U-boat Assessment Committee for this day. Maybe the aircrew exaggerated and Neumann played down the action?

Best regards
Rainer
