Hello to all, l am new to this. l am 54 yrs. old and learning. My father was on U-517 with Paul Hartwig. He was on the Battleship Scharnhost before he was transferred to the U-Boats. My father was the BEST GUY you could ever meet! He came to Canada where l live now. His name is Alfred Rieger, our family roots are from Thuringen, Sachsen Anhalt, (former East Germany) if anyone has information, l would be forever grateful!! l do have some photos from the Scharnhorst, very few from U-517, sincerely, R. Rieger
