Dave,
I have checked the list of 23 survivors from Pacific Ranger that landed in Ireland and there is no Charles Kirven or anyone listed as an assistant cook. I have also checked the admiralty survivors report for those crew who landed in Ireland and they make no mention of any naval vessel. Although that is not to say that it did happen, I would be of the opinion that if there was a 'naval' vessel at the scene of the rescue it was more than likely the rescue tug that was based at Killybegs. The Marine Service ships large enough to patrol around the northwest coast didn't venture up around Donegal that often.
Regards,
Mark
