Hello all, this is my first posting and would like to thank everyone in advance for any information regarding this globe.
I was wondering if anyone here has information about a celestial star globe,1st type
Manufacturer's details........
: Nautische Werkstatten-seik u co G.m.b.h 1746
: the base frame is marked with Kriegsmarine Eagle, Swastika and M with 384
marked with the world famous globe maker's Logo:
..: BERLIN - Georgr.artist.Anstalt von Ernst Schotte & Co
my research indicates Ernst Schotte and co were a manufacturer in Berlin from 1860`s to 1920`s? Is it possible that this globe had been re-issued to the kriegsmarine during the war? Was it used pre war? How can we find out what boat this globe was registered to? Would it have been a private purchase by the captain? (as were so many items of the time?) I have seen images from 2005 that compare favourably, to the style of globe.(if you google : astral globe 1st type keil 7111 and click on astral globe 1st type keil 7111 - Gentleman's Military Interest Club there was a post by michel in 2005 with great pictures and in perfect condition.
His differs slightly only in Manufacturers details:
Nautische Werkstatten G.m.b.h keil 7111
and has no number by the Kriegsmarine eagle.
any help, or avenues to research, would be very much appreciated
cheers pete
