U-255 and Lt BRISCHKE

Would any contributor be able to shed any light on the supposed command of this U-boat during the period when it was laid up in St. Nazaire August 1944 to March 1945?

ObltzS Erich Harms commanded the boat between June 1943 and August 1944, when it was severely damaged to the extent that it was decommissioned and out of service between October 1944 and March 1945; then OL Helmuth Heinrich assumed command until the boat was surrendered two months later.

But some sources quote Lt Brischke as commanding the boat in August and September 1944. His name does not appear in the usual Commander listings so far as I can see.

In what capacity did Brischke command the boat, and for what purpose? It has been suggested that crew members during his command were drawn from St. Nazaire base personnel.

All suggestions gratefully received.
