Many thanks for that. Yes, I have Wynn's book, and that is the source of my query.
I see no other references to Lt Brischke in any other boat or commander history, though.
Previous references on this forum to U-255 in St. Nazaire have mentioned that the boat might have been used to bring in relief supplies; I wonder if Brischke undertook those sailings prior to the fall of the port, and before the boat was recommissioned and returned to active service?
