Late on the 7th May 1945 the U-2336 sank two merchant ships off the Firth of Forth, Scotland. The commander, Emil Klusmeier, en route to the operational area had failed to receive BdU\'s signal to cease hostilities. Only on her return to Kiel did the U-2336 receive some parts of a plain language version of the surrender order.
