<HTML>This is a very interesting topic. Living conditions on submarines are crucial because conditionate human performance on the long run. I don\'t know very much about Japanese ones, but I can report that both the Allied and the Germans themselves were amazed, when inspected the Italics\' hardware, to see how marked was the difference for Officers\', Chiefs\', and ordinary seamen accomodations in the Ocean going subs.
I think that men could either get used to lousy living conditions or have severe nervous or phisical breakdowns during long patrols.
