<HTML>Some American commanders forbade their men to shower on patrol to conserve precious distilled water for the batteries. The batteries consumed a lot more water than you would think. I can\'t remember the exact figure but it was several gallons a day.
As for the nukes, showers are sometimes limited because the pumps and running water can make the boat a bit noisier than normal.</HTML>
