<HTML>Nothing to do with U-BOATS but i have some bones to pick. You guys are forgetting Heinrici who was always called in for the toughest jobs. Rommel used to be his ADC at one time. And i think that Paulus and Rommel were in the same Regiment at Goslar or some place and as a result of which OKW sent Paulus to Africa to assess the situation and politely tell Rommel to cool off a bit. According to Rommel, Ruge was a pretty sharp Admiral. But i think Rommel has been given more credit than is due to him. Just as Patton is given more credit than is SLA Marshall or MacArthur, who did a better job than Patton. But someone mentioned that Rommel was more of a tactician and a cunning chap no more than a corps commander. But i think he learnt from the Air Superiority of the Allies and had a good strategic sense by the time of D-Day. He could have given the allies more to chew on if Schweppenburg\\\'s panzers were not inland and it didn\\\'t help much as Geyr von and Erwin did not get along. I think Rommel\\\'s best assessment so far was done by Hitler himself, who said that \\\"He was not a stayer\\\". Kluge was supposedly an exceptionally intelligent man and Rommel flew off the handle with him once before reliquishing west wall command to him.
