<HTML>Greetings,
I need some help on locating the u-boat number that this crew was on. I have a old handkerchief that I got about 20 years ago when collecting war memrobilia from a man that stated his father was on a ship during WWII that guarded some POW\'s from a sunk u-boat and he had gotten this from the prisoners. It is a white cotton handkerchief with the letters stenciled in black ink \"W.R.I.C.\" (I have no idea what that means). On the reverse side there is a hand drawn u-boat badge symbol with the date \"24. Juli 1943\" underneath. Above that is the names of 9 crewman and I assume the place they where from. The names are as follows...
Louis Hinkelmann, Hamburg
Arno Kanzor, Kiel
Kurt Rood, Rhl
Gerhard Wollny, Neusladt
Clemens Kastenholz Neuss, Rhein
Heinz Vorstadt, Stocssfurt
Georg Kominski, Danzig
Willy Brussow, Tangm
Heinz Reich, Sachsen
Each name is in a different handwritting so I also assume that each one personally signed it, some in block letters, some all caps, but each different. It appears that it was done in black ink but now has faded to a brown tone. The names, badge, and date where all done with the same pen. It is a real neat piece of history and one of a kind. I was wondering if anybody out their could look up from a resource the names of these crewman and which u-boat they where assigned. Also does anybody have an idea what the letters W.R.I.C. stand for on the handkerchief. I don\'t have a lot of knowledge on u-boat\'s and this is not my area. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this. Thank you in advance for your help on this.
Best Regards
