U-1200

Reported to have been sunk by a depth charge attack 60 miles south of Cape Clear on the night 10th November 1944, Neistle reports in his book “German U-boat losses during World War II” (2014 edition) a new location. The author confirms U-1200 to be positioned at 50 24N 09 10W south east of Start Point, the cause of her demise unknown.

I am surprised there are no references in support of this discovery and ask if anyone knows the circumstances and evidence for this conclusion. My father-in-law was the ASDIC operator on HMS Pevensey Castle under the Command of D A Rayner and was awarded the DSM for the apparent success of the operation.

Any additional information including reference material would be of considerable interest.

Regards to all
