I am hoping someone might help me understand which uboat was sunk 29-30 April 1945 in the North Atlantic by the USS Natchez, Coffmann, Bostwick and Thomas.
If I consult [uboat.net] the uboat is referred to as U-879.
However if I consult [www.history.navy.mil] (3rd to last paragraph) the uboat is referred to as U-548.
Is there something I am missing here?
Thanks if anyone can give me any clues.
