This reference book written by Axel Niestlé is certainly worth to have for everyone interested in U-boat history. However, he only writes in a footnote that he made the reassessment because the wreckage recovered by USS REUBEN JAMES and USS BUCKLEY after the depth charge attacks could be identified as belonging to U-548, but provides no more details.
