<HTML> The Germans did infact use Rayon or \"artificial silk \" in the manufacturing of items such as uniform insignia\'s , i.e . the green thread used on the breast eagle of enlisted mens tunic could be of Rayon . The U-Boat badge in cloth was done in Rayon ( for officers , other ranks got cotton thread ) . But Never was the battle flag used on U-boats made from Rayon , it would never holdup in the harsh environment that a sub lived in . All original flags were in the size range of 0,8 x 1,35 M . I am a collector and I would pass on this item .</HTML>
