Hi,

With respect to your "It was much the same during an attack by gunfire except the IIWO was the gunnery officer & he would be on the bridge directing the deck gun crew." I beg to differ.

IMO the II WO would stand on the boat's deck near the gun
- to have the same eye level as the gunner
- to direct the firing directly (there war no BÜ between bridge and gun)
