Danke sehr Ken!

I served on a modern sub (SSN 706) and smoking was rampant but no alcohol was on-board... and as I had never seen a picture of crewmen smoking on a U-Boat, I assumed it was verboten... and I'm sure smoking would not have helped the air quality while underway... was there an air filtration system or did they just live with the diesel fumes?
