<HTML>I have read here that the uboat personell is somewhat glorified, considering the way of their suffering when the boats got crushed by depth charges. However, after just gazing through the book of Jurgen Rohwer, \"Axis submarine successes\" I would like to think that they were just a bunch of \"Gung Ho crowd\" living by the rule \"sink first sort them out later\" I base this oppinion on the reflection that during the first 5 months of the war, 22 Swedish ships were sunk by german submarines. Concidering that Sweden was neutral during the WWII, there is not much said about this fact. I´m Icelandic myself, (as Gudmundur Helgason) and I can understand that Icelandic ships and fishing boats were \"lawfull\" targets, since Iceland belonged to the allied nations, and supplying Great Britain with fresh fish, and therefore helping out during the war. (Iceland lost as many men as USA did during the WWII, if you count per capita). Anyone care to comment on my thoughts?</HTML>
