<HTML>Das boot, being loosely based on a novel written by the reporter on the real u96, the sub when it passed the straight of gibralter was detected by a british fighter that was onced based off of the carrier arc royal, which was sunk by uboat. Apparently this homeless fighter was equipped with a new naval radar, and detected the sub on the surface that night, severely damaging it and forcing it back into port.</HTML>
