Das Boot - Anti-War Film?

<HTML>Greetings mates,

The time seems right to bring this up, seeing as how the movie is fresh on everyone\'s minds.

Das Boot has often been touted as an anti-war film but somehow, I just don\'t see it as such (and I have seen it a dozen times). In my estimation, it is simply a movie about a bunch of U-Boot guys just trying to do their jobs and survive till the end. Period. I suppose the nasty comments about their fearless leaders (like the skipper referring to Goering as a big fat slob)might be construed as \"anti-war\", however, I believe that these attitudes are common to all military forces. There is always a handful of pompous leaders to despise. Otherwise we wouldn\'t have anyone to bitch about eh?

So, what do you think? Das Boot: Anti-War, or just a movie about war?

regards,

Robert Eno

P.S. my favourite character was the navigator if only because navigation is a passion of mine.</HTML>
