<HTML>I fully agree with you. Though I find the History channel to generally be superficial, (as they cannot discuss that for which they have no video), I have groused to fellow HC viewers quite a bit about this program. I thought it was lousy in the 80's when it had its network run. The stock shots of the same four F4U's, the cutaway to an obvious unflying wing for the machine gun shots, and the wartime gun camera footage of all of the wrong planes for the Pacific theatre all add up to dreadful television. I did enjoy the crew chief always calling the pilots "College boy", and the Japanese foe who would call out "Boyington!" on the radio was also amusing.
The series must only cost $5 per episode to run, and the interviews with the squadron members must be HC's attempt to somehow make this presentation "historical".
I would rather see episodes from the 1950's series "The Silent Service" as I haven't seen one since I was a child. I understand that the production quality wasn't so great, but at least they were depictions of actual events, and not the severe cheese presented on "Black Sheep Squadron".
We may be lucky, and this show will follow those others you mentioned back to obscurity, or more appropriately for this forum, somewhere below crush depth...</HTML>
