"The Enemy Below" was filmed around 1957. The film/movie did received an
Academy Award for special effects at that time...which was not bad.!
The destroyer was (in real life) the USS Whitehurst.

The U-boat commader played by Kurt Jurgen did presents a strong anti-war
message in this naval war film. As both captains (Robert Mitchum) played a
cat & mouse with each other in naval warfare during WWII.
