<HTML>Actually, if you listen to the Director and Prochnow's commentary on the DVD, they refer several times to "laser disc"--the DVD is a copy of the Director's cut on laser disc format, which is what they believed they were making at that time. Now, laser disc is pretty much "kaputt" as a format. Much of the dialog was redone--some by the original actors--and sound effects also were redone since they were separated on the original film (e.g. the sound of depth charges is different). Loss of an occasional word or two isn't surprising, but so much is added it more than compensates, in my opinion.</HTML>
