These were the "advisors" that are referred to in some postings.

The Japanese passengers were Imperial Japanese Navy Lieutenant Commaander Hideo Tomonaga, a leading Japanese submarine designer, and Lieutenant
Commander Genzo Shoki, an aircraft expert, who had come along to study German weaponry.
