Hi, you all,
a long time ago I've been told that Thurmann (U553)is the real "Philipp Thomsen". I got this info by an Crew-mate of Thurmann. The Thomsen of the movie has nothing to do with Rolf Thomsen of U 1202 or Hirsacker (U572) that's sure. But perhaps Io knows more about the real person behind Thomsen. She's THE expert concerning U96 and Das Boot!
