It's entirely possible. There's a family tradition that the first McDaniel came over after the 45, but the first one I can get a solid record of was my great-great-grandfather, who was born in Kentucky in 1821. Still trying to nail down his parents. We can get back farther on Dad's maternal ancestors, and one of my Mom's multi-greats turned up in Virginia in 1612.
