If you mean the guitar music (no lyrics) I think it was probably written specifically for the movie. It's repeated in other scenes when Ullman speaks of Françoise, and also when the LI is looking at pictures of himself and his wife in the snow-covered mountains. If the movie had been made a couple of decades earlier, we might have listened to "Love Theme from Das Boot" on pop stations!What a thought.
