Very kind of you Gabor. Reference is always appreciated and I will certainly buy this book. Having started by reading whatever I could get my hands on regarding WWII Type VII's, I found a book on WWI U-Boat operations and ended up finding that era quite a bit more interesting. After the type VII kit is finished, I'm going straight into a WWI subject. Thanks again for taking the

Many thanks Francois. This is very helpful. For what it's worth and in case you may be interested, someone on the WWI forum replied to the same question which I posted there and came up with this: I'll visit the site you referenced and take a look. It seems like a sadly under-represented niche. BTW, do you happen to know anything about the colours used on these, versus the

My God! There it is in technicolor! I can't believe it. I'm so glad! Thank you very much. You've made my Christmas.

I posted this question on the WWI forum, but there hasn't been a response so far. Perhaps the modelling forum is a better place. I'm looking for a WWI U-Boat kit, but have had absolutely no luck finding evidence that any are or have ever been produced. Does anyone know of any? I have very few requirements; I have none as to scale, media or type. I would prefer to find a UB II kit, but

Does anyone happen to know of any kits made of WWI boats? Garage and limited-run kits would suffice as well... I'm not picky. If I had some names, I could search occasionally on Ebay, or elsewhere. AFAIK, there haven't been any made by the major manufacturers, but I would assume that if anyone knew of kits thus far produced, it would be members of this forum. Am I left with scratchbuild

Really? Now that is something I had no idea of. I guess including them would be inauthentic... I was hoping I could add a little life to the montone menace. Despite the error, I may go ahead and do it regardless, but I greatly appreciate you answering my post and it's good information to know. Thank you.

Thank you also Don. Kind of you to point me to the Martindale article. I read the great majority of that PDF previously in my efforts to research paint scheme colours. I had no idea there was any mention of lantern colours there though. I will have to go through it again. In any event, I think I'll simply go with white for both the tower and stern lamps.

Thank you Vidar. That's enough to convince me. If your Kobben wasn't required to display lighting in a different way than a surface ship would, I'll make the leap and presume the same applied to U-Boats. I suppose I really should have made the assumption that the rules would have been the same; maritime rules rarely seem to change much over the decades. I'll go wit

Hello all, I posted on the modelling forum since my question pertains to a modelling effort, however there should be no reason it couldn't also be considered a technical question; so perhaps this is a more appropriate group of people to ask. Does anyone happen to know the lantern/light colours on Type VII C boats? Side lights are pretty obvious (starboard/port), but the lantern on

Hello all. I am a long-time lurker and have these forums to thank for an awful lot of information on U-Boats. Thanks for all of your "help" so far. I'm building a Revell 1/144 VII C at the moment and my attempt involves a lot of retooling including using parts from the VII D Eduard PE set and some other cut-and-rebuild edits. Among the things I want to do right are the lante
