UB 64 sank Setter, MJ Craig and Buffalo on 13.9.1918. Setter was off Corsewall Pt at about 0425 GMT, MJ Craig off Belfast Lough at about 2200 GMT. Buffalo was off Corsewall Point. Can anybody tell me what time? Donald

Many Thanks Oliver, Sounds like twitchy lookouts to me. Probably repeated later that day about 3.30 p.m. when a submarine was reported east of Davaar. Regards, Donald

Many thanks Michael, I should have said that HMS Avon was attacked off Lochranza, at the North of Arran. I can look out dates that submarines are mentioned, but just because a submarine was mentioned as "attacked" or even "seen" doesn't mean there was one there and mines could have been in position for some time before they were found. I am researching Convoys from Lamlash. Can anybody tell me which U-Boats operated in the Firth of Clyde during 1917 - 1918 and when they were in the Clyde.One attempted to torpedo HMS Avon at about 6.20 am on 2nd January 1918 any idea which one? Regards Donald

Michael, The information that I have is that "Wheatear" sighted a submarine west of Rathlin at about 1615 on 5th may 1918. She fired two shots at it and the submarine submerged. The submarine reappeared and opened fire on "Wheatear". "Wheatear" then ran for Portrush,laying smoke and keeping up a running fight for 6 or 7 miles. "Albion3" escorted most
