managed to get hold of a copy of Coronel and the Falklands by G Bennett has a breakdown of events but I would love to hear from people who might be able to shed a less official account.

The service was shown on BBC News 24 his son in law gave a very good spiel which painted quite a picture of the man. I certainly think that it would have been an honour to know him.

After some more digging it seems he served for 12 months continuous service on the Laurel and Amethyst about which I know nothing except that both are marked as Trawlers. I have two photographs one A4 sized of HMS Laurel in profile steaming with awnings spread and a deck gun forward and signed Mr G Pollard HMS Laurel Skipper RNR from 28/11/35 to 4/11/36. I am trying to find anything regarding HMS Kent and its crew and role in the battle of the Falklands. Amongst some documents of my grandfathers I found an envelope with notes and reference to a local newspaper however no story was published. The notes mention HMS Kent and the battle and persuit of a KMS cruiser and indicates my great grandfather was serving aboard during this time. The very parti

HMS Columbine built as the original Flower Class Corvette in the UK at Charles Hill and sons shipyard and launched 13 August 1940 all indications are she survived the war.

I am interested in this vessel as my grandfather is reputed to have served aboard in 1935-6. I realise this falls into neither WW1 or WW2 but nicely in between. The information that I have is that she was a converted trawler used as a minesweeper in the med fleet but other than that I know nothing.
